Trip to India

A chance to discover the art and culture of Rajasthan

16 days – from Feb 17 th 2018 to March 04th 2018

Fees*: 2290 euros

Option to pay in installments

Come discover the wonders of Rajasthan! An unforgettable 2-week artistic and cultural tour, Triwat Voyage will introduce you to the traditional arts of North India.

Kamal Kant, son of master Girdhari Maharaj, and heir to a great and ancient family of Indian artists, invites you to the unique experience of sharing the life of his family, within the Triwat house, the site of many cultural encounters and artistic exchanges.

The first week of the tour will be spent at the Triwat house in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Within this ideal family environment, you will be introduced to traditional Rajasthani arts, and you will get to enjoy moments of calm and relaxation thanks to the various classes you will attend: yoga, meditation, Kathak dance, music and singing. You will thus get the chance to share the daily life of this family of Indian artists, who will introduce you to the cultural traditions as well as to the delicious cuisine of their region.

Other activities will complete the course: you will meet local artists, attend private shows and concerts, and enjoy a guided tour of the most splendid sites in Jaipur.

While the Triwat house is not far from the city center (only a 15 minute-drive in a rickshaw), it is located in a quiet neighbourhood close to a great number of shops and a national park. It provides an ideal environment for learning, since it includes a large dancing hall and a few music rooms. The house offers great comfort thanks to its rooms with en-suite bathrooms, its small garden, and three large terraces from which you can admire the stars at night, and the surrounding mountains.

During the last week of the tour, you'll be travelling across Rajasthan to discover the Land of Princes. You will visit other wondrous cities, stunning temples and sumptuous palaces, as well as the Thar Desert, whilst enjoying a most friendly atmosphere.

ARTISTIC EXCHANGES

Our dance school aims to develop artistic exchanges between India and the rest of the world not only by inviting foreign artists to India (where we organise workshops and meetings with local artists) but also by inviting Indian artists to France and Europe

In 2004, Jérome Kuriale, a French percussionist and drummer, met Kamal Kant. From their encounter arose the “Ghathak Project”. This project was developped in association with many other artists: musicians, dancers, computer graphics designers, videographers, and so on.

The great Spanish dancer of Flamenco, Anna Benito, was invited to give a masterclass in our school in Jaipur. She taught flamenco to the professors and pupils of G.M.K.Center.

Silvana, a Chilean contemporary dancer contacted us to suggest an artistic exchange. She worked with Indian artists and learned Kathak dance for several months and in exchange, offered to teach our pupils the main concepts and bases of contemporary dance.
